CHRISTmas
I am SO excited about our Christmas program this Sunday! We've done a cantata the past few years, and integrated some short "plays" into it... but this year is different. We are doing a cantata, but the whole "play" is about putting a Christmas play together. So the narrator, (the director of the play) is asking for volunteers (people with scripted parts sitting in the audience) to be in the play. She asks for someone to play the part of the Innkeeper. She asks a man who immediately says he has no time for this, he has too much to do! He is checking his emails, texting on his phone, doesn't have time for Christmas. She asks for a lady to play the Innkeepers wife, and the woman she asks says, "oh no, not me! you wouldn't want me to be in your play, you don't know the things i've done!" This goes on and on, showing different people and their views on Christmas and God. The director explains to each person how God DOES know them, wants to be involved in THEIR lives, etc. It is a very powerful play! Not a dry eye in practice tonight! I hope we can all remember the true reason for Christmas, and not get so wrapped up in "things." One of the main songs is the hymn "O love of God... How rich and pure! How marvelous, and strong! It shall forevermore endure ~ the saints and angel's song!" Another song talks about Jesus coming to earth as a helpless babe, and how His wisdom could not escape His tiny lips.... he left so much to be born in a lowly stable for ME! and you! Wow, so much to think on this season.... I pray I can keep my mind focused on what truly is important and somehow help others to do so as well. Merry CHRISTmas!
